Modern Le Mans cars are finally coming to Gran Turismo 7 next month G Trends

Polyphony Digital released a trailer for the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 update during the Gran Turismo World Series 2026 Rd.1 – Milanpromising that four modern Le Mans and World Endurance Championship cars (and the safety car) will be added on June 11.

All I can say is…finally! With the 24 Hours of Le Mans taking place on June 13 and 14, it’s the ideal time to do a few laps of the Circuit de la Sarthe.

The four prototypes are:

  • BMW M Hybrid V8
  • Ferrari 499P
  • Peugeot 9X8
  • Porsche963

And you also have the Porsche 911 Turbo S safety car.

It’s the first time in a long, long time that Gran Turismo has had a wide range of contemporary cars from the top of the World Endurance Championship, and that quartet joins the Toyota GR010 Hybrid from 2021, an evolution of which is still used in the WEC. But therein lies part of the “problem”. It’s a long way from the full range of prototypes currently competing in the WEC – we’re missing cars from Aston Martin, Alpine, Cadillac and Genesis – and while it’s a shame that Porsche withdrew from competition at the end of last year, it does mean that the Porsche 963 isn’t current.

But as a free update to the game, it’s a bit cheeky to complain. We now live in a time where there is an officially licensed game for the WEC, Le Mans Ultimate, and it is very popular among simulators and enthusiast PC racers. GT7 is a much larger game, and it’s honestly impressive that Polyphony is still releasing significant car lineups in free updates. It also features a wide range of classic Le Mans competitors and winners that other games can only dream of.
