One of our most anticipated free games at the moment has to be Soulframe, coming from Digital Extremes, the team behind the hugely popular Warframe. As the 11th annual TennoCon community event takes place this weekend, the development team behind the upcoming free-to-play fantasy action RPG has revealed that players around the world can get permanent access to Soulframe Preludes in registration on the official website by July 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET/4:59 a.m. BST. TennoCon attendees and viewers at home should tune into TennoLive on Warframe’s Twitch or YouTube channels at 4:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. BST to see Soulframe’s latest gameplay demo.
Additional reveals included a preview of the Warsongs Fable quest featuring Ben Starr (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) as an antagonist named Tempest Bayor ahead of TennoLive’s full presentation, a new fishing minigame, the Vadagar Pact featuring a new corrupted progression path, the Beggar Reinbreaker boss fight, and confirmation that mounts will be coming to Soulframe Preludes this year.
“Our approach to storytelling in Soulframe has focused heavily on redemption, with uplifting character arcs built around salvation and not necessarily the destruction of the human body and soul,” said Geoff Crookes, creative director of Soulframe. “Life has many paths to redemption, however, and with The Fable of War Songs, we are trying to explore some of that contrast to demonstrate the necessary balance and coexistence. Growth doesn’t really happen without some level of despair and fear. These are important storytelling mechanisms that are incredibly tied to the human experience and the journey through life. These themes are not comfortable to experience, but they are essential to our existence as temporary inhabitants of Alca. We hopefully our community and players will experience Soulframe for the first time today, find a sense of connection with it.
Access to Soulframe for everyone
To celebrate the community at TennoCon, Digital Extremes is once again inviting all players interested in joining its growing community to create an account on Soulframe.com by July 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET to secure access to Soulframe Preludes. Claim an Envoy name and explore the dozens of weapons, Fables, characters, and Pacts that Preludes currently has to offer. Players can continue to access Preludes until the game’s wider public launch. Once the open registration window closes, players can still register, but will wait for the weekly draw until additional access becomes available.
Corrupted player progression path and a new fable entitled War Songs
Channel corruption to carve a new type of path to redemption with a darker progression path introduced in Soulframe’s latest Fable quest, Warsongs, releasing later this fall. Harness the power of Corrupting Ichor with the new Pact of Vadagar to launch explosive boomerangs, summon captivating tendrils, or summon a rush of corrosive steeds that leave murky pools in their wake.
An antagonist, named Tempest Bayor, arrives
Reveal the face of one of Soulframe’s main rivals to the player, Tempest Bayor, brought to life by the performance of Ben Starr. As a rare envoy to the Red Arms, he aligns himself with Ode’s invading forces with the support of his faithful raven companion. Her motivations are unknown, but the Empress of Eldveil, played by Jennifer English (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) in her first appearance in the game, seems to know more…
A new boss: Beggar Reinbreaker
Break the rampage of the final boss of Ode’s forces, the Beggar Reinbreaker, now available in Soulframe Preludes. Defeat the mounted menace and free his contracted steed for a potential chance to befriend him in the future.
There’s a fishing mini-game!
Recall the forgotten pastimes of your childhood, fishing at the lake with Grandpa Doyen in a new fishing activity integrated directly into the game’s narrative while expanding Alca’s world-building.
And mounts are coming to Soulframe Preludes!
The wait to cross Alca with an adult wolf companion is coming to an end. Soulframe Preludes players will soon be able to test the highly anticipated first mount system later this year!
There’s still no sign of an official release date for Soulframe, but with the permanent access you can currently get for Soulframe Preludes, there’s never been a better time to get involved, be part of the community, and help shape the finished game.
