Jason is the next killer coming to Dead by Daylight, Behavior has announced, also confirming the June 16 launch date for the horror film icon.
“The mask is on. The machete is dripping. The massacre has begun,” the trailer reads.
It’s great to see the Friday the 13th icon appear in Dead by Daylight, a game celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and this announcement makes us think back to the early days. Although it launched in 2016, it was 2017’s console version that saw him take on none other than Jason himself, with Friday the 13th: The Game arriving just a month in advance. While that game was mired in licensing issues, DBD carved out a niche for themselves in a way that allowed them to add tons of new characters from all sorts of horror and horror-adjacent IPs.
The curiosity here is that there is no mention of Friday the 13th, just Jason. We’ll have to wait until more details are revealed to see how much Behavior is able to draw inspiration from the larger film franchise.
