Providing an update on the progress of Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, developer PlaySide also announced that its RTS has been delayed to early 2027.
While they say development is “progressing well” and are now starting a series of blogs and explorations of the game, the studio is pushing back their planned release window.
War for Westeros will now launch in early 2027.
We remain steadfast in our mission to deliver a real-time strategy game set in the world of Westeros that meets the expectations of RTS players and Game of Thrones fans. This decision gives us the time we need to continue progressing towards this goal and ensure the game achieves the high level of quality we are aiming for.

War for Westeros will let you rule the various houses and factions from the popular novel and TV series – well, it used to be a popular TV series. you can lead House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or turn to the Night King’s Army of the Dead and attempt to claim the Iron Throne. Each will have hero units with specific abilities to improve their army and can be upgraded to gain more powers.
Skirmishes will take place in different regions of Westeros, including the Wall, King’s Landing, and Ashemark in the Westerlands.
