A school principal in Hong Kong has been fired after he cursed at security guards during a student trip to Singapore last month, the school announced.
The management committee of San Wee Commercial High School in Tuen Mun on Wednesday announced the immediate dismissal of school principal Lee Cheok Heng and refused to accept his resignation tendered after about a week of confrontation.
The committee received Lee’s letter of resignation on May 28, requesting that the last day be August 31.
“If he remains in his position as principal before August 31, it will seriously disrupt the work of the school and prevent the school’s teachers and students from moving forward as quickly as possible,” the management committee said.
“This constitutes Mr. Lee’s immediate dismissal and removal from all duties at the school.”
The statement added that the school confirmed that Lee’s “vulgar” behavior during the exchange tour violated the professional code of conduct for faculty members, especially the guidelines stipulated by the Education Office.
