A senior White House artificial intelligence policy adviser said Saturday that he will leave his post at the end of June, marking the exit of a senior figure who helps shape policies for frontier technologies.
“This trip has been the privilege of a lifetime,” Councilor Sriram Krishnan posted on social media.
Krishnan did not give a reason for leaving, but wrote in the post that he intends to help “address some of the big challenges facing America” related to artificial intelligence.
Krishnan participated in the Trump administration’s effort to create a national framework “to regulate developments in artificial intelligence.”
His departure comes at a time when the president is considering the possibility of the US government acquiring stakes in artificial intelligence companies.

“There’s something very interesting about this, where it becomes almost a partnership with the American public,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday, adding that he plans to meet with AI executives next week.
