
The Philippines It is uniquely positioned to serve as a gateway to Greater Bay Area Companies in Southeast Asia, the Philippine Trade Secretary said on Tuesday, as she explained Manila’s efforts to promote an environment conducive to investment.
Speaking at the South China Morning Post GABA Summit – ASEAN 2026Cristina Aldeguerre Roque urged investors to look at the Philippines as a stepping stone to the region and take advantage of the country’s young, digitally proficient workforce.
“We are a sea, demographic and digital bridge built for the next decade,” she said at the forum held at the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel in Hong Kong.
The Philippines, with a population of 150 million, most of whom are young and English-speaking, is “uniquely positioned” to complement the research and development capabilities of the greater Bay Area, Aldeger Roque said.
