Several members of one family were killed in new Israeli attacks in Lebanon on Thursday, health authorities said, as tensions continued to rise between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah despite a ceasefire.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that six people were killed in a raid south of the coastal city of Sidon in the morning. She added that among the dead were two children, their mother and father.
The National News Agency reported that the victims were a family displaced due to the fighting.
The National News Agency also reported that two people were killed in an Israeli drone strike that targeted a motorcycle near the coastal city of Tyre. The Ministry of Health said that one of the dead was a child. The victims were said to be Syrian citizens.
There were direct reports of another raid in the city of Sidon, where there were also reports of deaths and injuries. Accurate casualty figures were not immediately available.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said that nothing can justify the continuation of attacks targeting the southern regions of Tire and Nabatieh, the destruction of their historical monuments, or threats against civilians.
