Original Queer Eye for the straight guy star Jai Rodriguez responds to Karamo Brownclaims the environment on the hit reality TV series was toxic.

In an insightful interview with People released on Tuesday, June 2, Karamo – who starred in the remastered version Queer eye for 10 seasons next door Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk and later Jeremiah Brent – claimed the show’s work environment was rife with alleged bullying and bad behavior.
“Anyone would just say, ‘Well, that’s just that person,’ instead of saying, ‘That behavior is not appropriate in a professional environment,'” Brown claimed. “It had a lasting negative impact on me.”

He continued: “I was depressed. It felt shameful because I was teaching people that they could be better, but in my own life I was trapped.”
On Friday, Rodriguez told his followers that he was making a video “in support” of Karamo and “everyone.” Queer eye “People who have ever been a Fab Five person” in the United States.

“I think it’s important to share that unless you’ve worked on the show as a Fab Five member, you’ll never know the actual story, and to this day none of us have ever written a short story or told our stories as honestly as Karamo,” he added. “It just didn’t happen. And, um, I have the utmost respect for Karamo sharing his truth. I’m sure in the next few months, years, whatever, more people will share stories about their journeys and some may shock you, some may not.”
He continued, “But I think what’s undeniable and what I love what Karamo emphasized is that at the end of the day, the cast came together to make sure that the hero, the person that we changed in the 100 episodes that we did in the original cast and in the 10 seasons that the new cast did, that all the people that we changed were seen and respected and elevated and loved and cared for. And that really took a family, and Families can be dysfunctional.”
Rodriguez starred in all five seasons of OG Queer Eye for the straight guy as a cultural expert at his side Ted Allen, Nice Douglas, Thom Filicia And Carson Kressley.
Rodriguez further shared on Friday that even a TV family isn’t immune to the dysfunction of a typical family dynamic.
“I really always assumed that I would be the one to write everything about the experience because I feel like I can be the most honest, have nothing to lose and be fair and measured,” he added. “But I’m still so grateful that Karamo opened that door of honesty, because families are messy, and if it’s a TV family, you don’t get a pass – it’s still going to be messy.”
He concluded, “Messy is a big word too, but I’m just so proud of him. So proud of him. I felt like… yeah. Also bitch, did you change your number because I texted you? Let me know.”
