On June 7, it was revealed that he was a member of the Los Angeles City Council Nithya Raman had jumped to second place in the polls behind the incumbent Karen Basswhose place in the November elections had already been secured.

Pratt announced his candidacy for mayor in January 2026, exactly one year after his family’s home burned in wildfires in Pacific Palisades, California.
“The system in Los Angeles has no problems; it is fundamentally broken,” Pratt said at the “They Let Us Burn” public demonstration on January 7, 2026. “It is a machine designed to protect the people at the top and the friends they trade favors with while the rest of us drown in toxic smoke and ash. Business as Usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m tired of waiting for someone to take real action.”
He continued: “This is simply not a campaign; this is a mission, and we are going to expose the system.”
Several stars have reacted to the news that Pratt won’t be leading the town. Superman star Dean Cain supported the former reality TV star. Others, including Jimmy KimmelShe appeared to breathe a sigh of relief as she joked about the result.

“He clearly promised that if Karen Bass or Nithya Raman were elected mayor, he would move out of LA,” Kimmel said on the June 9 show Jimmy Kimmel Live! “He said he was done with LA, and Spencer, if you’re watching, we’re so sorry to see you go.”
He added, “Moving is expensive. To help you, we rented you a U-Haul. It has tons of space. It has two beds, tables, chairs, all your crystals, whatever you want. Our staff spent the whole day decorating for you.”
Despite his initial comments about leaving LA, Pratt later clarified this Us weekly that he made it clear that Los Angeles would be “not livable” if his campaign did not succeed.

Meghan McCain I didn’t see the funny side when it came to Kimmel’s comments about Pratt’s loss, in which he called the comedian “heartless.”
“Jimmy Kimmel is a mean, heartless idiot and no amount of crying on air will convince me or anyone else,” McCain wrote of X on June 10. “The day he’s off the air will be a better day for the country.”
Dean Cain
Superman star Dean Cain supported Pratt despite his failed mayoral candidacy.
“They had to cheat to beat you, Spencer. But now they’re exposed. If nothing else happens – you changed the game. Well done,” he said wrote about X on June 11th.

“Please stop it. It’s so tired,” Maloney wrote about threads on June 11th.
Wilson Cruz
Actor Wilson Cruz also joked about Pratt’s comments that he would leave Los Angeles if he didn’t win the election.
After Pratt’s post about whether the votes would still be counted, Cruz said replied via threads on June 11: “Are you still here? Let me help.” He attached a picture of flights from Los Angeles to his post.
