Canadian drones will head to Ukrainian battlefield under production-national deal G trends

Made-in-Canada drones could be headed to the battlefield in Ukraine, thanks to a new partnership between Canadian and Ukrainian drone makers.

The defense ministers of Canada and Ukraine signed an agreement to support joint production of drones on the sidelines of the CANSEC defense trade fair in the country’s capital this week.

National Defense says the drones will be made by Ukrainian company Airlogix and Canadian drone manufacturer Sentinel R&D, which is based in Hamilton, Ontario.

The two companies will manufacture unmanned aircraft systems in Canada destined for the Ukrainian army under the joint project.

Canada and Ukraine signed a letter of intent last fall to co-produce defense technology in both countries.

Drone technology has been developing rapidly throughout the Ukrainian-Russian war, and is responsible for most of the casualties in this conflict.
