Last October, Paper Cult announced that it was delaying the release of its hack and slash roguelike Tears of Metal to the first quarter of 2026. Although this goal has not yet been achieved, Paper Cult has now set the early access release date for Tears of Metal and it will be released on July 22. However, the demo will be removed before then and will only be available until July 6.
Paper Cult also revealed what players should expect when Tears of Metal launches into Early Access.
- The complete progress loop from start to finish
- Three acts, each with unique enemies, elites and bosses
- Three playable heroes
- Village upgrades, emblems, equipment, companions and more
As Early Access progresses, Paper Cult will add more playable heroes, a new family of emblems, new companions, new equipment and charms, more village content, gameplay improvements, performance and balance updates, and quality of life additions based on community feedback.
Tears of Metal is a hack and slash cooperative roguelike set in the Scottish Highlands. Hordes of enemies have invaded your home island, so it’s up to you and your battalion of Scottish warriors to fight your way through these large numbers of soldiers to retake the island and learn more about the Dragonstone Meteor that caused the invasion in the first place.
