Manchester United achieved its first victory in the pre-season, after a 5-0 victory over Norwegian team Rosenborg.
United’s mixed side lost their opening pre-season match to Championship side Wrexham last week, but Michael Carrick’s men had little difficulty overcoming a Rosenborg side who are just three points clear of the relegation zone in the Eliteserien.
Teenager Shea Lacey opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark, and four second-half goals sealed a comfortable win.
Joshua Zirkzee, Jacob Devaney, Harry Abmas and Ethan Williams scored the goals for the Red Devils, who will qualify. He will face Atletico Madrid in the next pre-season match on August 1.
Patrick Durgu hit the post in the 28th minute as United were unsurprisingly dictating matters in the first half, and three minutes later Lacey slotted into the bottom left corner after latching on to a brilliant pass from Zirkzee.
Euros headed the crossbar just before half-time, and 11 minutes after the break Zirkzee doubled the lead, bringing down a defender as he deftly evaded a challenge on the edge of the box before calmly slotting home.
Devaney scored from close range after Rosenborg failed to clear a corner kick, and Abmas turned in a low ball to the far post from Jaydan Camasson to make it 4-0.
Camason repeated the feat when he crossed another ball to Ethan Williams at the far post as United sealed the rout.
