Eriksen collapsed again during the Denmark friendly match before leaving the field G Trends

Christian Eriksen, the former Tottenham and Manchester United midfielder, collapsed unconscious on the pitch during Denmark’s friendly match with Ukraine on Sunday afternoon.

The 34-year-old collapsed to the ground, forcing the match to be abandoned, with the Danish Football Association having since confirmed that he was conscious.

It mirrors a similar incident during Euro 2020, where Eriksen clutched his chest before collapsing.

Sunday’s match was halted in the second half when he collapsed and was left off shortly after. Fortunately, Eriksen was able to get off the field himself.

The midfielder was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) after suffering a cardiac arrest five years ago.

Morten Boysen, the Danish team doctor, said: “Christian is in good condition and left the field on his own.”

“As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should. He was unconscious for a short time, but he regained consciousness very quickly, and we quickly got in touch with him.

He added: “He will now undergo further examinations in the hospital to determine the cause of the accident.”
