When “Full House” premiered, Mary-Kate and Ashley were just toddlers. When the show ended, the couple was 8 years old. After the show’s finale, the Olsen twins continued acting well into their late teens before eventually retreating from the Hollywood spotlight to focus on their fashion careers.

John Stamos
After Mary-Kate and Ashley didn’t return for a while Fuller house Making a cameo appearance, Stamos was upset by the twins’ decision.
“When I did Fuller House, they didn’t want to come back and I was mad for a minute and this came out,” the actor admitted during a May 2023 episode of the And That’s What You REALLY Missed podcast.
However, Stamos’ feelings changed when he reconnected with the twins after Saget’s death.
“They said, ‘We loved you, we loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob.’ They came to my house and brought pork chops and sage,” he recalls.
Dave Coulier
Coulier shared that seeing Mary-Kate and Ashley, even under such tragic circumstances, was a “wonderful” experience.
“When we saw them at Bob’s funeral and his memorial, it was just wonderful,” he said in an interview with the New York Post in September 2024. “That’s the only word I can think of. It was wonderful to see Mary-Kate and Ashley.”
Coulier added that he also had a nice interaction with the couple.
“I went and sat in there and started playing around, and all of a sudden Mary-Kate came over and sat next to me, and then all of a sudden Ashley was sitting next to me,” he recalled. “And the three of us were in there, just laughing and being like kids. It was wonderful.”
Jodie Sweetin
During an April 2026 episode of the “McBride Rewind” podcast, Sweetin revealed that she hasn’t really spoken to Mary-Kate or Ashley since “Full House” ended.
“We didn’t talk. I think after Full House and growing up and everything, they had a completely different development than all of us,” she explained. “People say, ‘Well, aren’t you talking? Is that bad?’ No, they were 8 years old when the show ended and we weren’t as close as we were. I didn’t see her the whole time.”
Sweetin added that nothing happened between her and the twins and instead their respective lives were hectic.
“It wasn’t that there was any bad blood between the two of us, but they moved to New York, then got married, built their fashion empire and moved into this world,” she shared. “It was like we kind of drifted apart.”
The Hallmark actress also noted that both Mary-Kate and Ashley are “fiercely protective” of their privacy and that the entire cast reunited for the first time for Saget’s funeral.
“When Bob died, it was the first time we were all together in a long time,” she said. “Bob would see her in New York, and I had seen her in LA. There was no bad blood, but this was the first time we were all really together again. It was just like before. It was normal. We all spent four straight days together after Bob died, and it was like nothing had changed.”
Two months later, Sweetin gave an update on the cast’s connection to Mary-Kate and Ashley
“Everyone gets along well with them,” she explained on an episode of “ Taboo‘S “Comics and Kicks” Podcast. “But they were 8 years old when that show ended. Then they did all these movies and all that stuff, which I don’t know if they really loved the whole time.”
Sweetin added that for Mary-Kate and Ashley, acting “isn’t what they love.”
“They have a different relationship with being on set all the time,” she reflected. “You may not remember when we were two years old and we were all carrying them around and doing stuff like that, but I do.”
