In Week 9, the Washington Chiefs were at home to face the Seattle Seahawks. By halftime, the score was 31-7, and the Commanders’ defense struggled mightily.
Seattle led 28-0 before Washington responded with a touchdown. The final score was 38-14, and the Leaders are now 3-6 in 2025. That’s more losses than they had in the entire 2024 regular season. Against the Seahawks on SNF, three players on the leaderboard suffered season-ending injuries. They include Jayden Daniels, Luke McCaffrey and Marshon Lattimore.

After finishing 12-5 in 2024, the Leaders took a big step back in 2025. This was largely due to the team suffering several injuries on offense. In Week 2 against the Packers, RB Austin Ekeler suffered a season-ending ruptured Achilles tendon. Additionally, WR Noah Brown suffered a groin injury and has been on IR ever since. Furthermore, WR Terry McLaurin has missed five games due to injury this season. Not ideal for leaders.
Not to mention, 2024 Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels has missed three games this season due to injury. In Week 9 against the Seahawks, the Chiefs’ 2025 campaign fell apart. The Chiefs were down 38-7 in the fourth quarter, and Jayden Daniels was still in the game. Daniels dislocated his elbow and had to exit the match. Media members and fans were left wondering why coach Dan Quinn still had a Pro Bowl QB in the game.
Since the start of the regular season, 17 of the captain’s players have suffered injuries that have cost or will cost them time. Of these players, 13 were starters at the time of their injury.

Jayden Daniels is expected to be out for an extended period, if not the rest of the 2025 season. The Leaders still have eight games left to play. Marcus Mariota will start for Washington while Daniels is out. In SNF’s opening start in Week 9, Chiefs WR and kick returner Luke McCaffrey suffered a broken collarbone. Another devastating loss offensively for Washington.
McCaffrey would finish the year with 11 catches for 203 yards and three touchdowns. On 26 punt returns in 2025, he had 769 yards. Commanders CB Marshon Lattimore suffered a torn ACL in Week 9 versus the Seahawks. Lattimore has taken a step back in his production. However, he is one of the best players in the weak leader position. Losing Lattimore for the rest of the season is a tough blow. What will Washington’s record be to finish 2025?
