If you’re looking for thrillers to watch in May, the most exciting options aren’t streaming in the same place.
It may not seem very tempting to subscribe to so many streamers, but there is almost always a better chance of finding something you like if you do.
Watch With Us has narrowed down this month’s picks to the four best thrillers on Netflix, Prime Video and Apple TV, as rated by Rotten Tomatoes.
Our selection includes a survival thriller and three crime thrillers that gradually deal with their subject matter more and more seriously.
4. “Beast” (2022)
There’s nothing like a family trip to bring people together, at least that’s what Dr. Nate Samuels (Idris Elba) had hoped when he left his daughters Meredith (And Halley) and Norah (Leah Sava Jeffries), to Africa to reconnect with her late mother’s roots and meet a family friend, Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley).
In a colossal case of bad timing, Nate and his daughters arrive just as a man-killing lion is wreaking havoc in Martin’s animal enclosure. This creature is vicious and cunning, and Nate must find a way to overcome it or there will be no one left to bury him or his family when the lion comes for them.

3. “Highest 2 Lowest” (2025)
director Spike Lee And Denzel Washington reunited for the crime thriller Highest 2 Lowestwhich had a brief theatrical release last year. Washington plays David King, one of the founders of Stackin’ Hits Records and an industry icon. King sold his controlling interest years ago, but is currently liquidating most of his assets to get it back. But on the day he wants to go through with the deal, kidnappers attack his son Trey (Aubrey Joseph). and demand a ransom that could end King’s dream of regaining his company.
The good news is that the kidnappers made a mistake. Instead of Trey, they took his best friend Kyle Christopher (Elijah Wright), who also happens to be the son of King’s long-time driver and friend Paul Christopher (Jeffrey Wright). The thieves still want their million-dollar ransom, but suddenly King no longer feels as obligated to pay. This hesitation could cost King more than just money.

2. “Caught Stealing” (2025)
Darren Aronofsky‘s latest film, Caught stealingis a dark comedy and a crime thriller at the same time. But Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) doesn’t laugh at all about the misery that his neighbor Russ Miner (Matt Smith). Hank simply agreed to look after Russ’ cat while he was out of town. Unfortunately for Hank, this made him a target for gangsters looking for Russ.
Hank and his girlfriend Yvonne (Zoe Kravitz), are unaware of the injury that awaits them or the high price they will pay when it becomes clear why everyone in the criminal underworld is looking for Russ. There’s a lot of money at stake and Hank may have no one left to trust, especially when a corrupt policewoman herself, Detective Elise Roman (Regina King), also looks for Russ’ hiding place.

1. “Crime 101” (2026)
Crime 101 Features Chris Hemsworth as Mike, a jewelry thief extraordinaire who meticulously plans his crimes to ensure no one gets hurt while providing a clean escape route. However, Mike’s latest theft was so bad that he is left shaken and unwilling to commit to any more robberies. That leads his fence, money (Nick Nolte), going behind Mike’s back and finding a psychopath, Ormon (Barry Keoghan) to finish Mike’s job.
While Mike tries to form a romantic bond with a woman named Maya (Monica Barbara), a relentless police officer, Detective Lou Lubesnick (Mark Ruffalo), is getting closer and closer to him. Meanwhile, an insurance broker, Sharon Combs (Halle Berry), is drawn into Mike’s orbit because he needs her help. But there is no guarantee that they can trust each other.
