Taiwanese opposition leader takes her case to Washington G trends

the A trip to the United States for two weeks Some experts said the leader of Taiwan’s main opposition offered Washington a different view on cross-Strait relations, although whether he would change anything remains in question.

Kuomintang Party Chairman Cheng Li-won returned to Taipei early Tuesday, concluding a five-stop visit that she described as “exceeding expectations.”

Cheng began her trip on June 1 with a visit San Francisco, BostonNew York, Washington, and Los Angeles.

She met with representatives from numerous think tanks and universities, and in each city she met with Chinatown communities and attended dinner parties for Taiwanese Americans.

The 56-year-old party official also held closed-door meetings in Washington with several influential senators and representatives, including Senate Armed Services Committee member Dan Sullivan, an Alaska Republican; House Foreign Affairs Committee member Brad Sherman, a Democrat from California; and East Asia and Pacific Subcommittee Chairman Yong Kim, also a Republican from California.

Cheng also met with Republican Senator Steve Daines of Montana, who is widely seen as an ally of US President Donald Trump.
