Unknown Worlds enjoyed a huge launch for the early access version of Subnautica 2 for PC and Xbox this week, and revealed its first plans with a patch and content roadmap.
The long-awaited alien survival game in the ocean rushed towards over 2 million sales in its first 12 hours of salesince its launch on May 14, already revising the figure of 1 million copies which was celebrated earlier on the launch day. This figure will almost certainly have been further improved as more players choose to jump in this weekend. All of this led to a maximum number of simultaneous players several times that of the original game.
Of course, with so many players, Unknown Worlds has a priority and duty to begin ironing out teething problems with the Early Access launch before promising major new content and features. The studio has released a brief update roadmap that outlines the first two updates and then the broader plans for the future.

EA 1.1 will focus on quality of life updates, biomod improvements, scourge encounters, wrecks, vehicle docking, PDA databank, and voice logs. Additions will include more passive biomod slots, storage caching, and sprint functionality.
The EA 1.2 update will then focus on cooperative gameplay, incorporating better HUD cues, base creation tools, and pinned recipes. The additions will see voice chat, emotes, trades, revives, and other player customizations added to the game.
There is no specific timetable for these updates, but we hope that describing them this way indicates that they will be relatively quick. In the longer term, Early Access will expand to new biomes, with new creatures, resources, tools and vehicles, and will also bring the next chapter of the story.
