Good news, people worried about getting away with murder in the quintessential pandemic lockdown game Among Us. Developers Innersloth have announced a single-player detective spin-off, Among Us Story: On Guard, in which you play as a spaceship security guard trying to catch an imposter – perhaps multiple impostors – before he eviscerates the entire crew. You will also have to prove your own innocence.
The whole thing is designed as a training simulation and has three possible endings. I guess these endings are 1) Nobody died 2) Everyone died 3) Not everyone died. Find the trailer below, straight from Summer Game Fest 2026.
“You’ve been asking us for more for ages,” Innersloth writes on his site. “More stories about the crew members! More lore! More ways to play! More ways to live in this universe, but in single player mode. We also wanted to see what that would be like.”
As with the original Among Us, the game plays primarily top-down, but features a cozier, chubbier aesthetic with softer colors. There’s also some pleasant dialogue and a first-person touch, although it’s unclear how much of the latter is scripted. It won’t be a huge match. “Even though there will be different endings and you may want to play them again, we also want to respect your time,” the developers continue. “As a single-player narrative game, this will be a chaotic, silly, and massive experience for you to enjoy.”
Are your detective instincts awakened? Do you want to run your magnifying glass over streaks of purple blood, without worrying about who/what might be walking behind you? Look for a Steam demo on June 15.
