Gang of Dragon was announced at The Game Awards 2025 by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the former general manager of Ryu Ga Gotoko Studio, who had left Sega to run a new start-up called Nagoshi Studios.
Since then, nothing has been heard about the game, but the studio’s YouTube channel and official website have been closed. Studio co-head Daisuke Sato has now set his bio to “Ex-Nagoshi Studios” and the studio’s Google Business listing, based in the Tokyo Ebisu district, is marked as “permanently closed.”
In March this year, Bloomberg reported that NetEase, which financed the game, had refused a $44 million payment to complete the game.
No official announcement has been made regarding its cancellation, and the game is still listed on Steamso it seems they forgot to take it off when they closed the door for the last time.
