Brazil provide an update on Neymar’s progress following the scan G Trends

Brazil announced that Neymar is making “good progress” in his recovery from a calf injury.

Brazil’s all-time top scorer was included in the 26-man squad for the World Cup, before it was revealed on May 29 that Neymar had suffered a grade 2 muscle tear while playing for Santos the day before the squad was announced.

The injury was said to keep him out for between two and three weeks, although coach Carlo Ancelotti later announced that the setback would not result in Neymar being dropped from the World Cup squad.

Ancelotti said on Saturday that Neymar is expected to join Brazil’s training this week after undergoing an MRI, provided that he passes this examination successfully.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star appears to be on his way to joining the camp after the Brazilian Football Confederation provided an update on his recovery.

The statement read: “The player Neymar underwent an MRI on Monday.” “The scan showed good progress in his treatment within expected parameters.

He added: “He will continue the recovery and physical preparation process planned by the Brazilian national team’s medical team.”

Neymar was included in the Brazil squad at the expense of Chelsea star Joao Pedro.

It was a controversial move by Ancelotti, who reportedly gave Neymar an ultimatum that he must abide by three specific rules if he wanted to participate in the tournament.

According to Globo, they were:

  • Understanding and accepting that he will not be one of the team leaders
  • Understanding and accepting that he will not be part of the starting lineup
  • To limit his activity on social media during the tournament

The newspaper reported that Neymar was happy to accept and promised Ancelotti that he would do “everything possible to be useful to the team.”
