De Zerbe said: “Andy is someone I have admired for a number of years and will bring great technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team.” Tottenham’s official website.

“He’s been a proven winner at the highest level over a long period, and he’s someone who can be a huge player for us, both on and off the field.

“I can’t wait to start working with him and see the positive impact he will have on everyone around him.”

Tottenham provide the defensive addition they desperately need

Robertson played 378 matches for Liverpool after joining from Hull City in 2017.

He scored 14 goals for the Reds during a period in which they lifted nine trophies, including two Premier League titles and the 2019 Champions League.

Tottenham will be hoping his experience will be of great help to a defense that has conceded 122 goals over the last two Premier League seasons, with De Zerbe aiming to move Spurs back to the right end of the table after narrowly escaping relegation on the final day of this season.

“We are delighted to welcome Andy to the club,” added sporting director Johan Lange.

“First and foremost, he is a fantastic left-back, one of the best players ever in the Premier League and someone who will improve our team.

“In addition, his quality, character and leadership were evident throughout his career in which he regularly competed and won major titles.” Andy’s professionalism and commitment will be invaluable to the development of our team, and he shares our ambition and determination to bring success back to the club.

“We are excited about Andy’s new chapter with us and look forward to having him here after the World Cup.”
