A judge earlier in the afternoon denied a request to halt a court-ordered Friday deadline to remove references to Trump from the building and other aspects of the Kennedy Center’s operations. The corporation appealed that ruling, an attempt that was also rejected Friday evening.
Scaffolding was erected earlier in the day around a portion of the building bearing Trump’s name. After a round of storms passed Friday evening, several workers returned to the scene to continue building scaffolding in an apparent attempt to prepare to remove messages referring to the president.
Dozens of people gathered in the square in front of the Kennedy Center to take photos and occasionally cheer while workers built scaffolding.

After ignoring the Kennedy Center for most of his first term, Trump exerted enormous influence over the place during his return to office.
