A Norwegian court on Monday ordered the release of Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s ailing son Marius Borg Høby, who faces numerous charges including rape and abuse, citing her health crisis.
Prosecutors quickly appealed the decision, so Huibi will remain in detention until the appeal is processed.
Mette-Marit’s 29-year-old son from a relationship before her 2001 marriage to Crown Prince Haakon was on trial from February 3 to March 19.
He faces 40 criminal charges, including the rape of four women, which carries a maximum penalty of 16 years in prison.
His ruling is scheduled to be issued on June 15.
Last week, Hoibi requested his release due to the health crisis that his 52-year-old mother is suffering from. The police refused and left the court to decide.
