CEO Berrada is targeting a Premier League title within two years G Trends

Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada said the club is in a “good place” to win the English Premier League either next season or the next.

Berrada has targeted the club’s 21st Premier League title by 2028 when he is appointed in 2023, which will be his 150th anniversary.

A strong end to the season – following the mid-season arrival of Michael Carrick – saw the Red Devils finish third in the Premier League and secure a return to the Champions League, and the club president believes a first league title since 2013 is now within reach.

“Ideally, we will do it next season, and if not, then the following season. I think we are in a good position,” he said. Inside Man United.

“We will continue to invest in different areas of the club. There are other goals off the pitch that we would like to achieve as well.

“One is to be financially sustainable, and to introduce commercial innovation into the club.”

Berrada: We want Bruno to stay

Perrada insisted United plan to retain captain Bruno Fernandes after an excellent season that saw him win the FWA Player of the Season award and break the Premier League record for the most assists in a single season with 21.

Berrada added: “I think that in Bruno, we have a wonderful leader. Absolutely wonderful.”

When pressed on whether he wanted to stay at the club, the United boss said:

“We would like him to stay. Of course we would. He had a great season on the pitch and, most importantly, I think he showed everyone that he is a great leader.

“People don’t see what he does off the field and he deserves a lot of credit.”

The transfer strategy from last summer will continue

On the subject of transfer plans this summer, Perrada said Manchester United will continue the strategy established last summer, which saw them bring in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sisko.

He added: “The model of what we did last summer will be repeated.”

“You never know how it’s going to go out the window. You have to be really prepared, you have to have a clear plan, you have to know which positions you want to strengthen, and you also have to be prepared for any eventuality.

“There may be exits you didn’t expect or opportunities that didn’t exist at the beginning of the window. We have to be flexible and quick.

“We have a clear plan. (Director of Football) Jason Wilcox and his team are well prepared to execute that plan.

“What we saw last season is a good way forward for us.

“We want a mix of experience and youth. A mix of players who have proven they can perform in the Premier League and players who are performing very well outside of the Premier League.

“Whatever decisions we make, it will not only be in the short term, but also in the long term.”
