Leeds captain Ampadu signs a new long-term contract at Elland Road G Trends

Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu has signed a new four-year contract, according to club chairman Parag Marathe.

Ampadu was a key figure in the club’s successful return to the Premier League, winning both the Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards with a string of impressive performances in midfield.

The Wales international still has two years remaining on his previous deal, but Leeds have handed him an improved deal that commits him to the Elland Road club until 2030.

Marathe told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Ethan signed an extension and was locked up for four years. It’s all over.

“Ethan has been a key player all year and is a leader on and off the field. Everything he does is true leadership.”

“He’s almost like one of us on the pitch, but he’s also one of the players. We all thought it was an important first step in the upcoming transfer window.”

Leeds finished 14th in their first season in the top flight, with Ampadu earning plenty of praise for his leadership on the pitch.

The 25-year-old made 126 appearances for Leeds despite suffering two serious knee injuries, and also played 62 international matches for his country.

Daniel Farke is a big part of our future – Chairman of Leeds Marath

Leeds’ 2026 form has finally ended speculation over manager Daniel Farke’s future.

Marathe says the German is key to the Yorkshire club’s planning going forward.

He added: “My hope and expectation is that he will stay with us for a while. I know he has another 12 months (on his contract), but I think we both have an interest in this continuing. At the right time and in the right way, we will have these conversations. He is a big part of our future.”

“What we did that I’m proud of, and what we should all be proud of, is that we put Leeds on the right track in the right direction at the right speed. And we’re on the train now, I’m on the train, Daniel’s on the train, we’re all on the train.”
