Sony has announced that PlayStation Plus will become more expensive this week of May 20, affecting the price of a one-month and three-month subscription.
The new prices will see a 1-month subscription now cost $10.99 USD / €9.99 EUR / £7.99 GBP, while a 3-month subscription will cost $27.99 USD / €27.99 EUR / £21.99 GBP.
This is for new subscribers only and therefore will not apply if you are currently using a one or three month rolling subscription, unless you let it expire. The exception is that Turkey and India will be affected by regional price increases anyway.
Sony broke the classic “current market conditions” to justify a price hike, so I guess we can count our lucky stars that the PS Plus isn’t getting more expensive across the board…yet. Additionally, it appears that only PS Plus Essential is affected.

The latest price increases for PS Plus took place at the end of 2023, with a 20% increase in the UK, 26% in the EU and a staggering 33% increase in the US across the various 12-month subscriptions. Again, these are not affected at this time.
The way to avoid being hit is to shop around as much as possible and opt for the 12-month subscriptions, which cost £60 instead of £96 paying monthly or £88 quarterly. There are even more reasons to seek out PS Plus subscriptions when they are included in rare promotional discounts. You can often get 30% off a PS Plus subscription around Black Friday, New Years, and late spring/early summer. Which is great if you can spend a decent amount of money on a subscription in one go. This won’t be possible for less well-off gamers, which doesn’t give the impression that Sony is preying on the poorest, either by design or as a byproduct.
